New Trends in Fatalities among Construction Workers

CPWR recently completed a report on trends in fatalities among construction workers for the years 2011 through 2012.  The report contains some interesting facts that OTI Education Centers  may find useful when conducting training in construction related topics.  Some key findings of the report include:

The increase in the number of fatalities among older construction workers aged 45 and above was 15.2% as compared to 1.9% among their younger counterparts

Among self-employed construction workers, the number of fatalities increased 27.8%

There were 199 fatalities in residential construction in 2012, which equates to a 37.2% increase as compared to 3% in non-residential construction

Fall fatalities in all construction increased 9.3% from 269 to 294 between 2011 and 2012
