Construction Safety Council Plans to Relocate

HILLSIDE, IL., March 2013- The Construction Safety Council is making no small plans.  After 13 years at its present location at 4100 Madison Street in Hillside, the Construction Safety Council announced today it will soon be moving its operations to a newer, state of the art facility.  The exact location has not yet been finalized, but the excitement has begun.

As the construction industry struggles to get back on its feet after the economic and building recession, the Council is preparing itself to be ready and even more capable of serving the construction industry not only at a new location, but also with new classrooms, trainers, resources and more course offerings.  Council employees are taking a fresh look at providing new ways to better service their customers.

During the slowdown over the last several years, the Council has taken advantage of its downtime to examine and reinvent its programs and update materials.  While still offering its standard array of safety classes and training materials, the Council is expanding its customized training courses to address new areas of safety in construction as well as general industry.  For starters, the Council recently customized a fall protection program for the Brookfield Zoo, and has also worked in partnership with the Operating Engineers Local 150 to develop a new Rigging and Signaling Course.  The Council also upgraded its existing crane safety training materials to address the changes in the new crane standard that will go into effect in 2014.

Over the past several months, the Construction Safety Council has also been building its cadre of outreach trainers, focusing on instructor development as well as maximizing best practices in adult learning techniques in its courses.

New technology presently being developed will give employers easy online access to track safety training for employees and potential employees.  The Council has also totally revised its IT processes to streamline operations and efficiency.   In addition to the popular online “Excavation Safety for a Competent Person” that has trained over 5527 in the last 4 years, more online courses are in the works.

By all indications, the construction industry is on the verge of a comeback and the Construction Safety Council will be ready and able to provide current, high quality, state of the art safety training when the industry booms again!  Look for further updates soon!
